Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What seatbelt laws apply to my child? What type of car seat does my child need to be in for his/her age/weight/height?

A:Remember that EVERYONE must wear a seatbelt and anyone under the age of 12 must be in the back seat.  Indiana State law requires every child 7 years and younger to specifically ride in an appropriate child restraining device such as a car seat or booster seat. At age eight (8) a child may begin to use an adult safety belt as long as the child weighs more than 40 pounds.
