Sheriff's Reserve 505 W. 4th Street Bloomington, Indiana 47404 E-mail: sheriffsoffice@co.monroe.in.us The Sheriff's Reserve is comprised of part-time volunteer deputies appointed by the Sheriff to supplement the Sheriff's Office. Pursuant to Indiana statute, Reserve Deputies have the same police powers, wear the same uniform, receive the same level of training, and are expected to perform the same duties as full-time merit deputies. Reserve deputies are unpaid professionals who serve at the will of the Sheriff for the benefit of the community. In 2009, there were thirty-four (34) Sheriff’s Reserve Officers who contributed 4,896 hours to the Sheriff’s Office at a costs savings of $92,289.60 to the taxpayers of Monroe County.The Sheriff’s Reserve is self-financed with the exception of fuel costs. All costs associated with vehicle maintenance, uniforms, utilities, equipment, etc. are funded through income generated from services provided by the Reserve, such as security, traffic control, and crowd control for private and public events.
